Joanne Hillman
A native of Kansas and Oklahoma, Joanne fell in love with a man and a place in South Texas. Together, they operated a marine supply business serving the shrimp boats and their colorful crews of a beautiful bayou on Hillman Drive in Galveston County.
After Tommy’s death, Joanne moved to Hidden Manna Christian Retreat Center in New Waverly, Texas, where she discovered the principles of listening prayer and was asked to share them with guests and at women’s conferences. She also developed a ministry for incarcerated teenaged girls and gave each one a prayer journal to write words the Lord speaks to their hearts. The girls often told her how much the journals meant to them.
Joanne has three children, eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She currently leads a Christian writers’ critique group in her church and assists in the library and clothing/food pantry.
