This is the second book in Currie’s series Heirs of Peverell. The series follows her Daughters of Peverell series, with stories of the children of the main characters in that first series. If you have the chance to read the Daughters of Peverell first, you’ll understand a lot of the historical references in this series, but it’s not absolutely necessary.
As in the first book, there’s a lot of emotional angst for these teenagers and young adults who have grown up together in the castle as they try to figure out life and romance, whether they are royalty or commoner . Princess Isabella is a loveable but very scatterbrained young woman who thinks she needs to matchmake for all her friends, make a name for herself, and hopefully fall in love herself along the way. When she gets frustrated, she spends the night baking all sorts of delectable goodies in the castle kitchen. Reading tip – do not read this book while hungry! 🙂
There were times I dispaired of Isabella ever getting her act together, and she really throws a wrench in her whole story… but you’ll just have to wait for that plot twist! Thankfully she gets lots of wise advice on love, handling frustration, and trusting God’s grace from her friends and parents.

I enjoyed Izzy’s story! I wasn’t ready for it to end when it did. Hannah writes fun, lovable, and relatable characters. I loved the grace storyline throughout. Here were 2 favorite quote snippets:
“She’d corrected me right away. It’s not happy, it’s hopeful, because no matter what shadows come, it faces the sun…A longing for that kind of hope. One that doesn’t give up but just keeps looking to the light.” 🌻
“Then maybe you need to give yourself the same grace God does. If He doesn’t hold on to your mistakes, why do you? That’s the thing about grace. It’s a gift, and a gift only means something if it’s accepted.”
This one picks up right after The Princess List, so definitely read that one first! 🙂

Recipe for a Princess by Hannah Currie was an amazing read !
I had read the first book in this series and I really liked the fact that book two starts just where book one ends 🙂
I really enjoyed the story and all the funny characters. Izzy is going through a lot and it is great to imagine that even though she is a princess, she also goes through hard stuff just like us !
It was really nice to hear also about the characters that were in the first book and read about them too.
I can’t wait to read the third book in this series 🙂

As someone who loves to bake, this book was right up my alley! I have loved all of Currie’s Peverell series, and this book was an excellent addition. Featuring Princess Isabella, we pick up right where the previous book, The Princess List, left off. Containing all my favorite characters from the series, this story highlights the struggles of Isabella and John as they figure out their feelings for each other amid the challenges of royal life. I loved the emotion, the characters, the setting, all of it. Currie is truly an excellent storyteller, and I cannot wait to see what she writes next.

I thoroughly enjoyed this second book of the series, Recipe For a Princess. I really like how Izzy has a lot of spunk, but is kind and humble. I feel sorry for her at times, which is really hard to do, to feel sorry for a literal princess, lol, but Izzy makes you relate to her struggles. She appears to have dyscalculia, which my sister has, and it really makes a lot of trouble for her. She and John have such a sweet love story, but I really wish we had gotten a little more of them together. It’s pretty late in the book before it happens, but it really is special. John is really dutiful, taking care of others, and always being dependable. He has trauma from his childhood as well that just breaks your heart. I wanted so badly for him to have a happily ever after I enjoyed seeing so many characters from the past series and the first book of this one , which I have read and appreciated. I am looking forward to reading more of this series, and I really enjoyed the world of Peverell. This was a complimentary copy given to me by the publisher. All opinions are my own.

What a delightful read!
I am thoroughly enjoying my time with the Castle Kids of Peverell, and the very well-meaning Princess Isabella made this another charming addition to the series.
Izzy loves baking, serving her people, and, most of all, romance. With her brother happily in love, she decides that surely she can help her friends find their perfect matches too. After all, if she can follow a recipe to create the perfect high tea, how difficult can matchmaking be? But life—and love—don’t always follow a recipe, and soon Izzy’s good intentions have unexpected consequences, especially when the one man who has always been there for her walks away.
I really enjoyed the relationships between the characters and continuing the story from The Princess List, along with the flashbacks to the Daughters of Peverell. I also spotted a few fun Easter eggs referencing other WhiteCrown books!
Overall, this is a delightful, faith-filled young adult read with friendship, family, romance, humour, and plenty of heart. I’m really enjoying getting to know the Castle Kids and look forward to the next one.
